Joel Kassiola

Professor Kassiola received his Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from Princeton University in an interdisciplinary program that included the Department of Philosophy among its five participating departmental programs. His major research interest has been in environmental ethics, environmental political theory, and environmental politics along with the environmental crisis in China. In addition, he has studied and written about what he calls “Confucian Green Theory” which is the application of Confucian thought and tradition to contemporary environmental problems.  His teaching interests in philosophy include: Environmental Ethics, Ethics, Ethics of the Consumer Society, Critical Thinking, and Political Philosophy.
