Prof. Islami is on leave for AY 2026-2027.

Dr. Arezoo Islami is a philosopher of science and mathematics whose work bridges philosophy with mathematics, physics, and psychotherapy. In her research and teaching, she explores the phenomenological foundations of knowledge with an emphasis on embodied, cultural, and lived experience. Her work seeks to illuminate how scientific and mathematical practices arise from, and transform, the lifeworld in which we live.

She finds her deepest joy in teaching and mentoring: inviting students to think slowly, question the unquestioned, and discover the beauty of ideas that shape their experience. Her courses, from Introduction to Logic to Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Psychotherapy, weave scientific reasoning and creative imagination together, empowering students to recognize their capacity for interdisciplinary transformation.
