Overview

The Department of Philosophy is delighted and honored to welcome Dr. Dwight K. Lewis Jr. to San Francisco State. Dr. Lewis will present "A Larger, Freer, More Loving Talk" to the department and campus community at large. The presentation and Q&A will be followed by a catered reception and meet and greet with the speaker.

Abstract: In this talk I explore Baldwin’s conceptual distinctions of the sexual and sensual in relation to his notion of Larger, Freer, and More Loving. Through this exploration, I implore us to consider how we, both individually and within communities, can create and navigate our own realities. Explicated, how can we aid in providing access, space justice, and hospitality to and for ourselves and those around us?

Many thanks to donors Elaine Plaisance and Kenny Chin for funding the Chin-Plaisance Philosophy Colloquia Series. The Department of Philosophy can provide this type of quality and pioneering scholarship entirely due to their generosity.
