Message from the Department of Philosophy on Anti-Asian Violence

Wednesday, March 24, 2021

The Philosophy Department stands in solidarity with our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander students and colleagues as we mourn the loss of Xiaojie (Emily) Tan, Delaina Ashley Yaun, Paul Andre Michaels, Daoyou Feng, Yong Ae Yue, Hyun Jung Grant, Soon Chung Park, and Suncha Kim.  We recognize that the horrific Atlanta shootings came amidst an alarming increase in Anti-Asian harassment, violence, and bigotry in the Bay Area and the country at large.  We condemn these acts of hatred, along with systemic racism, misogyny, classism, and xenophobia that so many members of the AAPI community experience.

The Philosophy Department stands in grief and solidarity with the AAPI community.  We are committed to fighting all forms of bias, white supremacy, and oppression together.
